PIA’s Flights Restoration Under Review by UK Aviation Audit Team

Islamabad:A team from the United Kingdom’s aviation department is currently in Pakistan to conduct an audit of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and other international airlines in the country. The audit, which is set to run until February 6, aims to evaluate the steps taken by Pakistani airlines, particularly PIA, to resume flights to the UK.

A spokesperson for PIA, Abdullah Hafeez Khan, shared with *V-News* that the UK team’s review will continue until February 6, after which they will return to the UK to submit their findings to the government. He expressed hope that Pakistani airlines would soon receive permission to resume flights to the UK. The UK team is specifically gathering information on the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) of Pakistan, and the UK government’s decision will be based on the recommendations of the audit team.

Khan highlighted the importance of this route for Pakistan’s economy, noting that the UK route has traditionally been a major source of foreign exchange. “This route has always been crucial for us in terms of foreign currency, with weekly flights to London, Birmingham, and Manchester,” he added. He expressed optimism that, considering the improvements in PIA’s recent performance, the announcement would be favorable for the airline.

The restoration of PIA flights to the UK would be a significant boost for the airline, which has faced various challenges in recent years. The UK government’s decision is eagerly awaited, and many are hopeful that the recommendations from the audit team will pave the way for a positive outcome.
