PIA to Resume Flights to the UK After EU Lifts Ban, Plans Post-Eid Launch

London:Following the lifting of the ban by European authorities, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is making full preparations to resume flights to the United Kingdom. Pakistan’s High Commissioner in London, Dr. Mohammad Faisal, announced that PIA’s flights to the UK will begin regularly after Eid.
Speaking at an Iftar dinner with journalists and TikTokers in London, Dr. Faisal confirmed that the first phase will include flights from London and Manchester to Pakistan, with plans to resume flights from Birmingham soon. He mentioned that the efforts are underway to restore services from the latter city as well.
In June 2020, the European Union and the UK had imposed a ban on PIA’s commercial flights, restricting the airline’s access to their airspace. However, after the European Union lifted its restrictions earlier this year, PIA’s first flight to Paris took off on January 10, 2025, after more than four years.
Dr. Faisal also mentioned that a formal launch event will take place to mark the restart of these flights. This development marks a significant milestone in the restoration of PIA’s international services, which had been suspended due to regulatory challenges.
