PIA Resumes European Operations with Flight to Paris, Boosting Revenue and Reputation

Islamabad:After nearly four and a half years, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has resumed its European operations with flight PK 749 taking off from Islamabad for Paris at 12:10 PM today.

While PIA continues its efforts for privatization, the resumption of its European operations signals a positive shift for the national carrier. However, the question arises: will this development affect PIA’s ongoing privatization process?

According to PIA spokesperson Abdullah Khan, the resumption of the European operation after over four years is a significant success for the airline, as it is expected to generate substantial revenue from this sector.

The spokesperson further stated that all 329 seats, including the 35 seats in the business class, on the flight from Islamabad to Paris and the return flight have been sold out. Additionally, tickets for the next three round-trip flights have also been sold.

Under a partnership agreement, Air France will transport PIA passengers from Paris to 21 other cities in Europe, including the UK, with tickets issued by PIA.

The resumption of this European route not only restores PIA’s reputation but is also expected to bring in significant foreign exchange for the national economy.

As for the privatization efforts, the spokesperson mentioned that this positive development will likely have a favorable impact on the ongoing privatization process, as the increased revenue from this operation will enhance PIA’s financial standing.
