Pennsylvania Woman Sentenced to 17 Years for Falsely Accusing Innocent Man of Rape

A 20-year-old woman from Pennsylvania, Angela Orumowa, has confessed to falsely accusing an innocent man of sexual assault, leading to his wrongful imprisonment. The victim, Daniel Person, was accused of raping Orumowa outside a supermarket, but after an investigation, it was revealed that the allegations were fabricated.
Orumowa initially claimed that Person assaulted her, prompting local authorities to arrest him and begin an inquiry. However, after reviewing CCTV footage and analyzing phone records, investigators found inconsistencies in the girl’s statement and the available evidence.
During questioning, Orumowa admitted that she had only seen Person once near the supermarket and made up the false accusations. She explained that she felt disgusted by his appearance and that it led her to fabricate the story.
As a result, Orumowa was charged with filing false charges and sentenced to 17 years in prison. The innocent man, who had spent 31 days in jail, was released after the truth came to light.
