PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi Arrives in Dubai for ICC Meeting
Karachi:Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has arrived in Dubai to attend an important International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting. Sources indicate that the ICC meeting is expected to take place today, and Naqvi is likely to have a meeting with ICC Chairman Jay Shah.
According to PCB sources, the board has proposed a new formula for the Champions Trophy. Under this proposal, the fixtures for the Champions Trophy, including the highly anticipated Pakistan-India matches, will be played at neutral venues over the next three years.
If the ICC Board meeting takes place today, a final decision will be made regarding PCB’s proposal. If the proposal gains consensus, the ICC is expected to announce the Champions Trophy schedule soon. Given India’s refusal to host the Champions Trophy in Pakistan, it is likely that the Pakistan-India matches will be held in Dubai.
Before his departure to Dubai, Mohsin Naqvi visited Karachi’s National Stadium to inspect the ongoing renovation and upgrade work. During his visit, Naqvi emphasized the importance of maintaining momentum in the completion of the ICC Championship project while ensuring the highest quality of work.
As part of the upgrade plan, a new four-story building is being constructed in front of the stadium’s main structure. This building will include areas for VIPs, galleries, and media boxes. Additionally, new LED lights will be installed on the stadium’s pylons.
Naqvi also announced that for the first time in cricket history, fans will be treated to a unique laser light show at the stadium. In terms of fan convenience, Naqvi directed that the parking area be relocated closer to the stadium. Moreover, both scoreboards will be installed at a higher elevation to ensure uninterrupted viewing for the spectators.
