Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party Chairman Khushal Khan Kakar Addresses Issues Faced by Pashtun Afghan Community

Quetta:Khushal Khan Kakar, Chairman of the Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party, addressed the severe issues facing Pashtun Afghan communities in Pashtunkhwa and beyond, highlighting the deprivation of their rights, including political, economic, and cultural autonomy. He pointed out that due to the exploitation of resources by dominant groups, along with widespread unemployment, poverty, hunger, and underdevelopment, millions of Pashtuns have been forced into a life of hardship and displacement.

Kakar emphasized that Karachi has become the largest city for Pashtun Afghan populations, who have played a pivotal role in the city’s development. Despite their contributions, they still lack parliamentary and local government representation, along with basic human rights. Kakar, who arrived in Karachi recently, was warmly welcomed at the airport by party leaders including Sindh President Syed Siddique Agha, Provincial Secretary Shafiq Khan Tareen, and various district and party executives.

The party chairman argued that if a fair and transparent census were conducted in the country, Pashtun Afghan communities would constitute the largest ethnic group in Pakistan. He noted that millions of Pashtuns reside in Sindh, Punjab, and Kashmir, contributing to the annual allocation of resources for these provinces. Kakar called on the provincial governments of Sindh and Punjab to fulfill their constitutional responsibilities by ensuring that Pashtun populations receive adequate parliamentary and local representation, as well as access to essential services.

He also emphasized the need for the Pashtun Afghan community in Karachi to unite, particularly in advancing their political and social rights, and securing basic human rights in line with the country’s constitution. Kakar concluded by urging the community to raise their voices for the protection of their businesses, education, and overall dignity. During his visit, Abdul Nabi Khilji and Ismatullah Kakar also announced their joining of the Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party.
