Islamabad:Pakistani actress Noor Zarmeenah has been crowned “Miss Universe Pakistan 2024.” She will represent Pakistan in the 73rd Miss Universe competition scheduled to take place in Mexico in November this year.
The announcement of Noor Zarmeenah’s selection as Miss Universe Pakistan was made in a video released on the official Miss Universe YouTube channel. Hailing from Islamabad, 29-year-old Noor Zarmeenah has an educational background in biology and business.
In the shared video by Miss Universe, Noor expressed her aspirations to bring “positive change” to her country. She emphasized her desire to play a role in fostering positive transformations in Pakistan from two perspectives.
“I want to increase Pakistan’s representation on the global stage because our country deserves more presence in various fields worldwide,” Noor Zarmeenah stated. She further added, “Secondly, I aim to empower women in my country. Pakistan needs strong female leaders who can inspire other women to become independent and bring positive changes in society.”
Acknowledging her success, Federal Minister for Information Ata Tarar commented, “If she has contributed to Pakistan’s soft image and development, then we can discuss it.”
Responding to journalists in Islamabad about her background and professional achievements, Noor Zarmeenah stated that her actions and accomplishments could be observed professionally. Ata Tarar also remarked, “If she has contributed to Pakistan’s soft image and progress, it should be acknowledged.”
Last year, Pakistani model Erika Ruben was crowned Miss Universe Pakistan, becoming the first woman from Pakistan to reach the semi-finals of the 2023 Miss Universe held in El Salvador. Before her, no Pakistani woman had participated in the Miss Universe competition.
Erika Ruben’s selection as Miss Universe Pakistan last year went viral on social media platforms, triggering intense criticism and demands for an investigation into Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar’s ties to the matter, particularly from political figures associated with politics.
