Pakistan’s Bright Future: Army Chief Reaffirms Commitment to Economic Growth

Karachi: Army Chief General Asim Munir emphasized the need for unwavering confidence in Pakistan’s bright future during a meeting with the business community in Karachi. He asserted the military’s commitment to combat illegal activities and urged citizens not to succumb to despair, describing hopelessness as a sin.
Reflecting on the nation’s capabilities, General Munir stated, “Pakistan possesses exceptional potential across various sectors and aims to secure its rightful place in the global arena.” He acknowledged the significant role of friendly nations, particularly China, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, in Pakistan’s economic recovery, highlighting that such achievements would not have been possible without the support of the business community.
The Army Chief noted the positive impact of controlling smuggling along the western border on the economy. He revealed that international companies like Google and Starlink are investing in Pakistan and assured that the issues faced by Karachi’s business sector would be prioritized.
In a discussion lasting over four and a half hours, General Munir shared promising news about lowering the interest rate to single digits next year and reducing electricity prices soon. He invited the business community to collaborate with the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) and suggested that an amnesty scheme be introduced to encourage the repatriation of offshore funds.
General Munir also mentioned ongoing dialogues with political leadership regarding the establishment of new provinces, signaling proactive engagement with the nation’s future development.
