Pakistani Trade Delegation Visits Bangladesh After 12 Years to Strengthen Economic Ties

Islamabad:A Pakistani trade delegation, led by the President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), Atif Ikram Sheikh, has visited Bangladesh after a gap of 12 years. The visit focused on enhancing bilateral economic relations and promoting investment between the two countries.

According to a statement issued by the FPCCI on Sunday, the Pakistani delegation met with Bangladesh’s Commerce Minister Sheikh Bashiruddin, during which the importance of boosting economic ties and investment opportunities between the two nations was emphasized.

Atif Ikram Sheikh, the FPCCI President, expressed that the visit marks the beginning of a new era in trade relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh. He further stated, “We will stand by Bangladesh at every difficult turn.”

The statement also mentioned that Sheikh Bashiruddin reaffirmed Bangladesh’s commitment to prioritize trade relations with Pakistan. FPCCI’s Senior Vice President, Saqib Fayaz Mago, welcomed the relaxation of visa conditions for Pakistanis by Bangladesh, suggesting that long-term visas should be issued to deepen trade relations between the two countries.

Additionally, Pakistan has also eased visa restrictions for Bangladeshi citizens. Bangladesh’s Commerce Minister emphasized that both countries are ready to collaborate on exploring economic, industrial, business, and trade opportunities.

The meeting was also attended by the High Commissioner of Pakistan to Bangladesh, Syed Ahmad Maroof.
