UAE:The Pakistani missions in the United Arab Emirates have released a video advisory urging Pakistani expatriates, job seekers, and tourists to familiarize themselves with local laws and regulations.
Consul General Hussain Muhammad emphasized that the purpose of the video is to guide Pakistanis living in or visiting the UAE about their rights and responsibilities, helping them avoid legal issues. The advisory warns that violations of local laws could result in legal action, including imprisonment, fines, or even deportation.
Key points from the advisory include:
– **Visa Verification**: Pakistani citizens are reminded that their Dubai visas can be verified through the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai, while visas for other Emirates like Abu Dhabi and Sharjah can be checked through the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security.
– **Employment Verification**: Job seekers are strongly advised to verify potential employers through official channels. In case of uncertainty, they should seek assistance from the Pakistani Embassy in Abu Dhabi or the Consulate General in Dubai.
– **Legal Resources**: The advisory provides resources to access information on labor laws through the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) website. It encourages the use of email or chat services for queries.
– **Emergency Procedures**: In case of any crime or dispute, expatriates are urged to report immediately to the police. Additionally, any workplace violations must be reported to MoHRE within one year of work permit cancellation.
– **Document Readiness**: The importance of keeping medical records, valid passports, visa copies, and employment contracts easily accessible is highlighted. These documents should also be shared with close family in both the UAE and Pakistan during emergencies.
– **Financial Precautions**: Expatriates are advised to use official channels for money transfers between the UAE and Pakistan and to protect personal identification details. The advisory emphasizes the risks of online banking and credit card fraud, recommending the acquisition of life and medical insurance.
– **Job Loss Insurance**: All Pakistani expatriates are encouraged to obtain Job Loss Insurance (also known as involuntary loss of employment insurance).
The advisory concludes by stating that overseas Pakistanis represent their country and that adhering to the host nation’s laws not only reflects good citizenship but also enhances Pakistan’s reputation.
With approximately 1.7 million Pakistanis in the UAE, who form the second-largest expatriate community, the advisory encourages individuals to share this information widely, particularly with friends and family in the UAE.
