Pakistani Actress Iffat Umar Calls for Secular Pakistan, Advocates Personal Freedom in Beliefs

Islamabad:Renowned Pakistani actress, model, and host Iffat Umar has expressed her desire for a secular Pakistan, where individuals are not held accountable for their personal beliefs and practices.

Iffat Umar recently participated in a podcast where she shared her views on Pakistan’s future. According to her, she envisions a Pakistan where religion is a personal matter, and no one is judged or questioned based on their beliefs or actions. She stated that her views align with those of Pakistan’s founding father, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, who she believes also envisioned a secular nation. Iffat emphasized that Jinnah, considering the way he lived his life, was essentially secular in his approach.

Iffat Umar explained that while Pakistan is an Islamic country, religion should remain a private affair. She said, “We all believe in Allah, so who prays, who fasts, and who doesn’t should be a matter between the individual and Allah. It shouldn’t be a concern of society. We are answerable for our deeds only to Allah.”

Iffat Umar, a former model, host, and television actress, rose to fame during her early years in the entertainment industry, particularly through her modeling career. She gained recognition for her standout performances in popular television dramas such as *Nangay Paon*, *Ghulam Gardish*, *Mohabbat Aag Si*, and *Aangan*.

In recent years, Iffat Umar has taken a break from acting and has been actively involved in political commentary and analysis, sharing her thoughts on the socio-political issues of the country.
