Islamabad: The Foreign Office spokesperson emphasized that any restrictions on political parties are Pakistan’s internal matter. Speaking at a media briefing, spokesperson Muzammil Zehra Baloch stated that foreign nations should refrain from interventions. “Pakistan is capable of resolving its own internal issues,” she asserted.
Regarding recent developments, she highlighted Pakistan’s serious concerns conveyed to the Afghan interim government over Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan’s activities from Afghan territory. “The use of Afghan soil for terrorism in Pakistan is deeply troubling,” she added, emphasizing ongoing dialogue with the Afghan government.
Commenting on immigration issues, the spokesperson reaffirmed Pakistan’s clear immigration laws, noting daily deportations of illegal Afghan residents. Approximately 44,000 Afghan nationals are awaiting repatriation to third countries, she disclosed, expressing hope for swift action with support from international partners, including Malala Yousafzai.
Condemning recent attacks, including on Imam Bargah Ali ibn Abi Talib in Muscat on 9th Muharram, she termed them heinous terrorist acts and underscored solidarity with affected communities. The spokesperson also criticized the attack on Palestinian refugee camps in Khan Yunis, calling it a violation of UN principles.
Regarding recent arrests during Muharram processions in Srinagar, she demanded the immediate release of detained mourners and reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for Kashmiris. Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov of Turkmenistan is expected to visit Pakistan soon, focusing on bilateral relations and mutual cooperation.
