Pakistan Sends 18-Member Contingent to Paris for Olympics
Islamabad:Pakistan Olympic Association announced today that an 18-member contingent will represent the country at the upcoming Olympics in Paris, with the first group departing for France today (Friday).
The initial group departing for Paris includes 3 shooters and 2 officials. Pakistan’s shooting team includes Kashmala Talat, Ghulam Mustafa Bashir, and Gulfam Joseph.
In the athletics team, athletes Arshad Nadeem and Faiqa Riaz will lead the national contingent in the opening ceremony.
It is noteworthy that Pakistan Olympic Association had announced last week the formation of an 18-member contingent for the Olympics starting in Paris from July 26.
The Pakistani contingent comprises 7 athletes and 11 officials participating in shooting, swimming, and athletics events. Muhammad Shafiq is the Chief de Mission, Javed Lodhi the Deputy Chief de Mission, and Zeenab Shaukat the administrative official.
In athletics, coaches Salman Iqbal Butt and Dr. Ali Bajwa will accompany Arshad Nadeem and Faiqa Riaz. In shooting, Ghulam Mustafa Bashir, Kashmala Talat, and Gulfam Joseph will be supported by 2 coaches.
Ahmed Dani and Jahan Ara will serve as team officials for swimming. Misbah Rizvi will be the Chief Medical Officer and Rizwan Ahmed the Welfare Officer, while Kashif Jameel will serve as the Olympic attache at the Pakistani Embassy in France.
