Pakistan Rejects UN Human Rights Experts’ Statement on Law and Order in Quetta

Pakistan has rejected the statement made by United Nations human rights experts regarding law and order and human rights issues in Quetta. The spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that statements should be based on facts, considering the full context of the situation. The government has a responsibility to protect the lives and property of its citizens.

In his statement, Foreign Office spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan expressed regret over the lack of balance and proportionality in the comments, which ignored the loss of civilian lives due to terrorist attacks, the involvement of lawless elements, and their alliance with terrorists.

The spokesperson pointed out that a recent example of this alliance was the illegal raid on Quetta’s District Hospital, where terrorists seized the bodies of five militants killed during the Jaffer Express operation. Such actions are prohibited under international human rights law.

The statement further emphasized that the government must ensure the protection of its people and that no leniency or exemptions should be provided to terrorists or their collaborators. The spokesperson also clarified that the legal process is fully available to ensure justice for all citizens.
