Pakistan Railways to Outsource 7 More Passenger Trains to Private Sector

Pakistan Railways has decided to outsource seven additional passenger trains to the private sector. Bids for the auction of these trains will be accepted until February 25.
According to media reports, the trains to be outsourced include the Hazara Express, Karachi Express, Fareed Express, Bahawalpur Zikraya Express, Sukkur Express, Rawalpindi Express, and Mohenjo Daro Express.
Railway officials clarified that these trains will not be fully privatized, but will be handed over to the private sector to improve passenger facilities and increase revenue. The goal is to enhance the overall service quality for travelers.
In a related development, Pakistan Railways recently announced a 5% fare increase, effective from February 5. This hike in ticket prices was due to the rise in petroleum product costs and will apply to all classes of train tickets, including those for trains that are being outsourced to private operators.
