Pakistan Railways Increases Fares by 5% Following Petroleum Price Hike

ISLAMABAD:Pakistan Railways has announced a 5% increase in passenger train fares due to the recent rise in petroleum product prices. The increase in fares will take effect from February 5 (Wednesday), as per the notification issued by the railways department.

According to the notification, the fare hike will apply to all classes of train tickets, including salon services. The fare increase will also apply to all outsourced trains operated by Pakistan Railways.

The fare adjustment comes after the federal government announced an increase in the price of petrol by Rs 1 per liter on January 31. This brought the new price of petrol to Rs 257.13 per liter. Additionally, the price of high-speed diesel was raised by Rs 7, bringing the new price to Rs 267.95 per liter.
