Pakistan Limits Visa-Free Entry for Indian and Afghan Traders

Islamabad: The Ministry of Interior has informed the cabinet that Indian and Afghan citizens will not benefit from the visa-free entry program for traders from friendly nations. On July 24, 2024, it was reported to the cabinet that in line with the Prime Minister’s vision of visa reforms, various proposals were developed with consultations from key stakeholders and the Prime Minister’s office.
The Prime Minister had previously directed the relaxation of the visa system to attract business people, investors, and tourists from friendly countries. Significant measures include agreements with Nepal and the Maldives for visa-free entry. Additionally, the ‘Visa on Arrival’ facility is available for 108 business visa list (BVL) countries and 64 tourist visa list countries.
Traders visiting Pakistan will now need to complete an electronic travel authorization form 24 hours before their journey, through which the visa will be electronically issued. The ministry has streamlined the process, reducing the required fields from 161 to 30 in the new electronic travel authority form.
