Pakistan Complains to BBC Over Incorrect Reporting of PTI Protest Deaths
Islamabad: Pakistan has formally lodged a complaint with the BBC over incorrect reporting regarding deaths during the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protests.
According to government sources, the complaint was made after the BBC aired inaccurate information about fatalities during the PTI protest. The government has reached out to the British Broadcasting Corporation’s management to formally address the dissemination of misleading details.
On November 27, the BBC broadcasted reports claiming numerous deaths during the PTI protests. However, these reports included incorrect and misleading figures across all three of the broadcasts on the topic, leading to concerns about the accuracy of information presented on such a sensitive issue.
The Pakistani government emphasized that responsible journalism is essential for transparency and accountability, and media outlets must adhere to journalistic standards.
In its complaint, Pakistan has called for a correction of the misleading information and a public clarification from the BBC regarding the erroneous data.
