Pakistan Clinches ODI Series Against South Africa with 81-Run Victory in Second Match
Pakistan has won the three-match ODI series against South Africa after defeating them by 81 runs in the second match. With this victory, Pakistan has taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.
Kamran Ghulam was named the *Man of the Match* for his exceptional performance. After winning the toss, South Africa invited Pakistan to bat first, and the Pakistani team posted a total of 329 runs in 49.5 overs. In response, South Africa could only manage 248 runs before being bowled out.
With this win, Pakistan became the first team in the 21st century to win three ODI series in South Africa. Prior to this, Pakistan had already defeated South Africa in ODI series in 2013 and 2021, and now in 2024, they completed a dominant performance to claim their third series victory in South Africa.
In total, Pakistan has played 7 bilateral ODI series in South Africa, and with this win, they have become only the second team to win three or more ODI series in South Africa. Australia is the other team to achieve this feat, having won ODI series in South Africa three times— in 1997, 2002, and 2011—across 10 series they have played there.
