Pakistan Calls for Global Action Against Terrorist Groups’ Access to Illegal Weapons at UN Security Council

New York:At the United Nations Security Council’s Arya Formula meeting, Pakistan called for international action to address the issue of weapons under the control of terrorist groups. During the meeting, Pakistan raised serious concerns regarding the acquisition and use of advanced and lethal illegal weapons by banned groups such as the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), the so-called Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), and the Mujahid Brigade.
Pakistan’s Consul General, Syed Atif Raza, highlighted the alarming situation, pointing out that these terrorist groups have access to billions of dollars’ worth of illegal weapons left behind in Afghanistan, which are being used against Pakistan’s citizens and armed forces.
In his statement, Raza emphasized that these terrorist organizations are also receiving external support and financial aid from hostile countries. He urged international partners to work together to recover the stockpiles of weapons left in Afghanistan.
Furthermore, Consul General Raza called for global efforts to block terrorist groups’ access to these weapons, and to take effective measures to shut down the illegal weapons black market. Pakistan’s call for action underscores the growing concerns regarding the security threat posed by these weapons in the region and the need for coordinated global cooperation to tackle this pressing issue.
