Pakistan Appoints First Hindu Police Officer in History
Islamabad:In a historic development, Pakistan has appointed its first-ever Hindu police officer in the Pakistan Police Service (PPS). According to media reports, Rajinder Mahigwar, a young officer from Sindh, has been appointed as Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in the Gulberg Circle of Faisalabad Police, where he has already assumed his duties.
Rajinder Mahigwar hails from the underdeveloped district of Badin in Sindh. After passing the CSS exams, he joined the police service, marking a significant achievement in his career. Expressing his happiness over the appointment, Rajinder stated that his dream of serving the public has now come true. He emphasized that by being in the police department, he would be able to address the issues of the public in ways that may not be possible in other government departments.
This appointment has been hailed as a groundbreaking moment, as Rajinder Mahigwar is the first Hindu to be appointed as an ASP in the Punjab Police. Police officials are optimistic about his role, noting that he will play a crucial part not only in maintaining law and order but also in addressing the concerns of minority communities. “It is our fortune to have a Hindu officer who will contribute to making our police service more inclusive,” said one official.
In another noteworthy development, Hindu woman officer Roop Miti, from Rahim Yar Khan, has also cleared the CSS exams. Roop Miti has expressed a desire to work in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with an aim to promote Pakistan’s soft image globally.
Both Rajinder and Roop’s successes highlight the growing representation of minorities in Pakistan’s civil services and are seen as positive steps towards greater inclusion and diversity in the country.
