Islamabad: Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the head of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI), stated that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia together have the potential to play a significant global role in addressing the issues of Kashmir and Palestine.
During a session of the National Assembly presided over by Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Fazlur Rehman emphasized that prominent figures such as Yasser Arafat and Recep Tayyip Erdogan had visited Pakistan in the past, as well as numerous other global political figures. He noted that today, the Imam of the Mosque of the Prophet is also present, and suggested that political discussions were not appropriate at this time.
Fazlur Rehman underscored the importance of maintaining a focus on the bilateral relationship and mutual coexistence between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. He expressed that Saudi Arabia is viewed as Pakistan’s foremost friend in the international community and that it rightfully leads the Islamic world.
Acknowledging the current environment in the assembly, Fazlur Rehman extended an apology to Saudi guests for any discomfort caused by the ongoing political discourse. He reaffirmed the potential for Pakistan and Saudi Arabia to collaboratively address and influence global discourse on the Kashmir and Palestine issues.
