Islamabad: Pakistan and Iran have agreed to collaborate in addressing border issues and the shared challenge of terrorism. During a joint press conference with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar welcomed the Iranian delegation to Pakistan.
In his remarks, Dar condemned the serious violations of international law by Israel in Gaza, emphasizing that the region is facing severe Israeli aggression. He stressed that both Pakistan and Iran have called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, urging the international community to intervene. Dar also condemned Israeli attacks as blatant violations of Iran’s sovereignty.
The two ministers discussed regional issues and agreed to strengthen cooperation in managing shared challenges. Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s stance on resolving the Kashmir dispute through peaceful means and noted that terrorism cannot be used to erase the right to self-determination.
Both countries agreed on the need for dialogue to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East and emphasized the importance of upholding international and human rights laws in the region.
Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, in his statement, reiterated that terrorism remains a joint challenge for both Pakistan and Iran. He also commended Pakistan’s clear and resolute position on the Palestinian issue, adding that the international community had failed to stop the ongoing genocide in Palestine. Araqchi highlighted the need for collective efforts to halt Israeli aggression in the region, and acknowledged Pakistan’s humanitarian support for Palestinian and Lebanese refugees.
