Only True Democracy Can Rescue the Nation: Khushhal Khan Kakar

Qila Saifullah:Chairman of the Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party (PNAP), Khushhal Khan Kakar, emphasized that the country’s salvation from ongoing crises lies in embracing genuine democratic principles. Addressing public gatherings in Barat Khail Saghrah and Gawal Haiderzai, he called for the supremacy of the constitution and law, parliamentary sovereignty, equality of nations, judicial and media independence, and rightful ownership of resources by all nationalities.

Kakar demanded the dismissal of what he termed “Form-47-imposed governments,” and the holding of transparent elections under a free, independent, and neutral Election Commission. He reiterated that the right to form a unified Pashtun province—from Sibi to Swat—is both a national and constitutional right of the Pashtun people. Until that goal is achieved, equality between the ethnic groups within the existing two-nation provinces must be ensured in every field.

During the events, attended by PNAP’s provincial deputy secretary Syed Akbar Kakar, district information secretary Kamal Khan Kakar, senior regional aide Sharaf Khan, and Pashtunkhwa SO’s district secretary Aziz Arian, 63 notable tribal elders, political workers, and social figures formally joined the party along with their families.

Kakar stressed the importance of the people’s vote, vowing to uphold its sanctity through continued struggle and sacrifices. He thanked the public for showing political awareness and courage by voting for PNAP candidates in past elections.

Criticizing what he described as a state-imposed “national slavery” on the Pashtun Afghan nation, he said that despite owning mineral resources worth trillions of dollars annually, the people remain mired in poverty, hunger, and backwardness. He condemned the occupation and exploitation of Pashtun lands under the pretext of fake terrorism, lawlessness, and illegitimate legislative bodies.

Kakar called on all factions of the Pashtun national political movement to unite and redefine their collective narrative to respond to the worsening situation. He urged for the formation of a united front to accelerate the struggle for national rights.

In his concluding remarks, he warned the ruling elite and establishment to recognize ground realities and run the country based on true federalism, mutual respect, and voluntary cooperation. “The dignity and patience of the Pashtun Afghan nation must not be mistaken for weakness,” he said, “or it may lead to consequences the state will regret.”
