Oil Tanker Collision in Karachi Sparks Chaos as Locals Rush to Collect Spilled Oil

Karachi:A collision between a trailer and an oil tanker on Karachi’s Nathi Jati Bridge led to the spilling of thousands of liters of oil onto the road, triggering a chaotic scene as locals rushed to collect the oil despite warnings from the traffic police.

The incident occurred when the out-of-control oil tanker collided with a trailer, causing the tanker to spill large amounts of oil onto the road. The spilled oil quickly spread across a vast area, prompting nearby residents and passersby to flock to the scene and fill drums and containers with the oil. Despite the efforts of the traffic police to stop the crowds, many continued to gather the oil, putting themselves at risk.

The oil spill created a dangerously slippery surface on the road, resulting in several individuals slipping and sustaining injuries. Emergency services were dispatched to manage the situation, but the damage had already been done.

As a result of the accident, the track leading towards Maripur was completely blocked for several hours, causing significant traffic disruptions in the area. The police have seized both the trailer and the oil tanker and initiated an investigation into the cause of the collision.

Local authorities have urged the public to avoid the area and refrain from attempting to collect the oil, stressing the safety hazards posed by both the spill and the slippery road conditions. The incident highlights concerns over road safety and the risks associated with such hazardous spills, particularly in densely populated urban areas.
