OGRA Decides to Impose Harsh Penalties for Violating LPG Regulations

Karachi: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has decided to impose strict penalties on violations of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) regulations.
According to OGRA sources, hefty fines will be levied on those selling substandard LPG cylinders or equipment. Previously, the fine for violating LPG regulations was set at 3,000 rupees. However, this has now been proposed to increase to a minimum of 1 million to 10 million rupees.
Sources also revealed that the proposed punishment for violations could be extended from 6 months to up to 10 years of imprisonment without the possibility of bail. This new penalty system comes as a response to the rapid increase in LPG usage across the country. Sellers of substandard or mixed gas will no longer be able to evade penalties.
OGRA’s revised regulations have already been forwarded to the government for final approval. The new measures are aimed at safeguarding human lives and ensuring the safety and quality of LPG products in the market.
