Islamabad:A new revelation has emerged in the Adiala Jail facilitation case, linking former ISI Chief Faiz Hameed with Imran Khan even after the latter’s arrest and the May 9 incidents. It has been disclosed that Faiz Hameed maintained contact with various sources, including the detained former Deputy Superintendent of Adiala Jail Muhammad Akram and former Assistant Superintendent Bilal.
General (R) Faiz Hameed is currently under court martial proceedings and is in military custody. Recently, law enforcement agencies have taken Muhammad Akram and Bilal into custody for questioning, as they are accused of facilitating Imran Khan during his imprisonment.
Senior journalist and analyst Ansar Abbasi reported that multiple sources have revealed that the contacts between the former ISI Chief and Imran Khan involved a “jail network and some politicians.” The arrests of the former senior officers from Adiala Jail are seen in this context. Sources indicate that military officials had repeatedly warned Faiz Hameed about engaging in questionable activities post-retirement, but he continued with his actions.
Abbasi noted that informed sources have confirmed direct or indirect communications between General Faiz and Imran Khan. Imran Khan had previously stated that Faiz Hameed’s detention was an internal military matter and unrelated to PTI, suggesting a distancing from Faiz Hameed. Khan emphasized that PTI had no political connection with Faiz Hameed, and his removal was a result of General Bajwa’s deal with Nawaz Sharif.
The Supreme Court of Pakistan had ordered the commencement of court martial proceedings against Faiz Hameed. In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed that a detailed Court of Inquiry was conducted to address complaints against Faiz Hameed, leading to appropriate disciplinary action under the Pakistan Army Act.
