Islamabad: NEPRA has presented its report to the authority concerning the issue of excessive billing received by consumers between April and June 2024. The report reveals that all distribution companies, including K-Electric, have been implicated in excessive billing practices. In response, the authority has sought clarifications from these companies regarding the overbilling issue.
Based on the report, NEPRA has decided to issue directives to all distribution companies, including K-Electric. According to these instructions, consumers who received bills based on lower readings than the prescribed billing months from April 2024 to June 2024 should be adjusted against their recorded actual units.
For consumers who could not pay their bills due to lower readings, late payment surcharges will not be applied. Those who paid their bills with late payment surcharges will also be adjusted accordingly. To avoid average billing issues, faulty meters must be replaced immediately.
All distribution companies, including K-Electric, are instructed to adhere to the consumer services manual provisions for meter reading and submit a compliance report within 30 days.
