Rawalpindi: Negotiations have commenced between the Jamaat-e-Islami and a government team at the Commissioner Office in Rawalpindi. According to Jamaat-e-Islami leader Raza Shah, talks are underway with the assistance of the party’s leadership team.
Jamaat-e-Islami has presented its demands in writing for the negotiations, which are being led by the head of their negotiating team, Liaqat Baloch. The government’s negotiating team includes Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar, Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs Amir Maqam, senior leader of PML-N Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, and the Prime Minister’s Media Coordinator Badar Shahbaz.
It should be noted that Jamaat-e-Islami continues its sit-in protest against inflation and costly electricity in Liaqat Bagh, Rawalpindi, which has entered its third day.
Yesterday, Jamaat-e-Islami had formed a committee under Liaqat Baloch’s leadership for negotiations with the federal government. The government delegation had requested the Jamaat-e-Islami leadership to immediately end the sit-in, a request that was declined by Jamaat-e-Islami.
