National Party Expresses Concern Over Rekodik Project’s Impact on Baloch Youth
Chagai:In a press release, the National Party Chagai has expressed serious concerns about the handing over of the Rekodik project to what it describes as “Sindhi mafias,” particularly those based in Karachi. The statement criticizes the presence of the Sindhi lobby in the ARDMC and HEC, which it claims is fueling anger among local Baloch youth due to policies that undermine their interests. The party warned that these actions could have far-reaching negative effects and accused the ARDMC, HEC, and the Community Department of misleading the public with false assurances.
The press release highlights several issues, including what it calls the “notorious” Indus Hospital’s exploitation of the local community. According to the statement, the hospital has been exploiting resources at the Nokundi Hospital by appointing people from outside the area, particularly from Karachi and the Rakhshan Division, to low-ranking positions. Meanwhile, local communities are pacified with empty promises, while the region’s problems remain unaddressed.
The statement also criticizes the HEC’s “Baloch-hostile lobby,” alleging that local drivers are being unfairly rejected through a process that involves third-party contractors for dubious tests like the DDC and VOC. The National Party claims that most of the youth in Chagai are skilled drivers, and despite their expertise, they are being denied opportunities based on outdated or invalid driving licenses. The party argues that instead of rejecting local youth, they should be given a six-month grace period to renew their licenses.
“These tactics are nothing more than excuses to deprive Baloch youth of their rights. They are not just discouraged but are being deliberately excluded from opportunities meant for them. This has led to a growing sense of frustration and anger among the locals, which will have negative consequences for the Rekodik project,” the statement reads.
The National Party further accused the Sindhi lobby of intensifying its efforts to marginalize the Baloch people, calling it a “distasteful game” that has become increasingly unbearable. As a result, the party announced plans to take a strong stance against what it calls the “Baloch-hostile mafias” behind the Rekodik project.
The party revealed that it would be finalizing a comprehensive strategy by January 15, with plans to engage other political parties and stakeholders to defend the rights of local youth and ensure fair treatment in the Rekodik project. This will include organizing protests and taking legal actions in the areas of Dalbandin, Nokundi, and other districts of the Rakhshan Division to demand justice and opportunities for the Baloch people.
The National Party vowed to continue its struggle for the rights of the local Baloch population, stressing that the situation cannot be allowed to persist without a response.
