National Assembly Speaker Halts Action on Akhtar Mengal’s Resignation

Islamabad: National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq has suspended action on the resignation of Sardar Akhtar Mengal, leader of the Balochistan National Party (BNP).
According to sources from the Speaker’s office, the government requested that the Speaker not accept Mengal’s resignation, leading to the suspension of further action. The Assembly Secretary had presented Mengal’s resignation to the Speaker earlier today.
Meanwhile, the opposition alliance, Pakistan Constitutional Protection Movement, has called an emergency meeting at 5 PM, which will be chaired by the alliance’s leader, Mehmood Khan Achakzai. Sources from the opposition indicate that Sardar Akhtar Mengal is expected to attend the meeting.
The opposition alliance will deliberate on Mengal’s resignation and political strategies, including potential rallies and protest movements. Allied parties have been informed about the meeting.
Previously, delegations from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) met with Sardar Akhtar Mengal to request that he reconsider his resignation.
