Nargis Fakhri Opens Up About Her Struggles in Bollywood and Her Return with ‘Housefull 5

Islamabad:Nargis Fakhri, who is still fondly remembered as the ‘Rockstar’ girl, recalls her iconic role alongside Ranbir Kapoor in Imtiaz Ali’s film, which remains etched in the hearts of many. The actress, who was also part of films like *Main Tera Hero*, recently opened up in an interview with renowned Indian journalist and film critic Subhash K Jha, shedding light on the challenges that led her to step back from the Bollywood industry a few years ago.
Nargis revealed, “I faced an unfortunate situation that caused me to leave the industry. I don’t want to talk about it. However, male ego plays a part internationally. But that was not the reason I had to step back or leave Bollywood.” She emphasized that her experience does not reflect the entire industry, as she has worked with some incredible people and appreciates their efforts.
The actress further explained how difficult it was for her to adapt to Bollywood and its culture. Initially, she found dancing a challenge, but over time, she improved. However, she expressed her discomfort with the tags like ‘item girl’ and ‘item song’ that are often attached to actresses. “Even the term ‘item song’ was new to me. When people say a girl is doing an item song, it didn’t carry a positive meaning. Bollywood dance was as unfamiliar to me as Hindi itself, but I enjoyed learning it,” she shared.
Nargis is now making her return to Bollywood with the much-anticipated *Housefull 5*. The film features Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Sonam Bajwa, and Jacqueline Fernandez, marking another exciting chapter in her career.
