NAB Issues Arrest Warrants for Bushra Bibi, Sends Team to Peshawar for Arrest
Islamabad:The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has decided to execute the arrest warrants for Bushra Bibi, the wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, and has dispatched a team from NAB Rawalpindi to Peshawar to effect her arrest.
**NAB’s Action and Support from KP Police**
According to media reports, NAB has finalized the decision to arrest Bushra Bibi and has deployed its Rawalpindi team to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province for the purpose. The NAB team will also seek assistance from the local KP police to ensure the arrest is carried out smoothly.
This move comes after Islamabad’s Accountability Court, during the hearing of the 190 million pounds reference case against Bushra Bibi and Imran Khan, upheld Bushra Bibi’s non-bailable arrest warrants due to her repeated absence from court hearings.
**Court Proceedings and Non-Appearance of Bushra Bibi**
The case concerns allegations related to a 190 million pounds financial reference against the couple. The hearing, which was scheduled in the Accountability Court in Islamabad, was postponed after Judge Nasir Javed Rana’s absence. The court, while upholding the arrest warrants, adjourned the case until December 2, 2024.
During the previous hearing on November 22, the court had issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Bushra Bibi due to her continuous failure to appear before the court, including her absence from a previous judicial session at Adiala Jail.
**Ongoing Legal Proceedings and Repercussions**
Bushra Bibi’s non-compliance with court orders has led to increased legal and political tensions surrounding the PTI leadership, with Imran Khan facing his own legal challenges. The issuance of her arrest warrants is likely to further escalate the legal battles for the former ruling party’s leaders.
