Karachi: Renowned religious scholar Mufti Mohammad Taqi Usmani has emphatically called for an end to the usurious system, stating that efforts to achieve this through political means have not been successful so far. During a press conference in Karachi, he asserted that if the public stands united, the government will kneel down.
“We are still waiting for good leadership. A movement that can liberate us from this slavery is not succeeding at the political level,” Mufti Taqi said. He urged traders and the public to decide that they will not use imported goods, which would consequently halt their importation.
“In every aspect of life, the West has been made our ideal. We have adopted the English system and become slaves of the IMF,” he criticized, highlighting ongoing infrastructure issues like the unfinished Lake Seaview road. “The problem in our country is not a lack of resources but a lack of leadership. We are still awaiting good leadership.”
Mufti Taqi expressed concern over electoral fraud during elections, stating that demands for new elections arise every time fraud is detected. He called upon various segments of society to unite for the betterment of the country and strategize how to break free from this slavery.
“The business community is the backbone of any country. If they are strong and have a plan for the welfare of the country, they can compel politics onto the right path,” Mufti Taqi asserted, highlighting the role of merchants in steering politics toward righteousness.
He pointed out the IMF agreement as a constraint on revenue policies, adding, “We accepted its conditions because we are slaves. But what constraints are on the people to use imported goods? What constraints are on traders to buy imported products?”
Mufti Taqi warned that if the government imposes restrictions, international powers will intervene. He emphasized that if traders and the public decide not to use imported goods, their importation will cease.
