Monsoon Rains in Balochistan Cause 11 Deaths and Significant Damage
Quetta:According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), the ongoing monsoon rains in various districts of Balochistan have resulted in 11 fatalities since July 20.
The latest report reveals that in the past 24 hours, Barikhan recorded 35 mm, Khuzdar 18 mm, and Kalat 11 mm of rainfall. Ziarat and Panjgur received 2 mm each, while Quetta and Loralai recorded 1 mm each.
The PDMA report highlights the impact of the rains, noting that a total of 343 individuals have been affected since July 20. The report also states that eight people have died in various incidents related to the rains, and 15 homes have been completely destroyed by flooding. Additionally, 34 homes have suffered partial damage.
The storms have severely impacted agriculture and infrastructure, damaging crops across 62 acres and affecting 12 kilometers of roads. Flooding has also caused damage to five bridges and resulted in the death of 82 livestock.
