Balochistan:the ongoing monsoon rains have wreaked havoc across the province. In Bolan, torrential rains have led to the collapse of 20 mud houses and the drowning death of a shepherd. The shepherd, identified as Sona Khan Rind, was swept away by floodwaters while trying to protect his livestock.
In Jhal Magsi, heavy rainfall has resulted in the flooding of over 70 homes due to a powerful flood wave from the Mola River. The floodwater continues to rise, threatening additional homes and villages. Residents are taking measures to build makeshift barriers, but many are still relocating to safer areas. The floodwater has caused damage to local infrastructure, including the Sanghari bridge, which has developed cracks.
In Hub, persistent heavy rains have led to flooding of low-lying areas and potential damage to crops and orchards. The rainfall has eased the heat but has caused swelling in local streams and rivers.
In Sanjawi, the continuous rains have affected numerous villages, with roads washed away by floodwater. The region’s agricultural sector has suffered significant losses due to the floods.
Subi has also been severely impacted, with intermittent heavy rains causing the Naari Canal to experience high-level flooding, with a flow rate of 85,300 cusecs. The Tali Nadi is also seeing a high flood wave of 26,500 cusecs. The Subi administration has issued alerts to residents living near the canal and set up a flood control room in response to the emergency.
In Kohlu, roads that had been closed due to heavy rains have been partially reopened. The Kohlu-Subi National Highway was affected by flooding and landslides but is now partially accessible thanks to ongoing repair efforts by local authorities.
Overall, the monsoon rains have led to widespread flooding, property damage, and loss of life across Balochistan. The situation remains critical as more rain is expected, and emergency services continue to respond to the disaster.
