Mohsin Naqvi Set to Take Over as ACC President After Champions Trophy Final

Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi, is poised to take on a significant new responsibility in the near future. According to media reports, Naqvi is expected to assume the role of President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) after the Champions Trophy final.
Currently, Sri Lanka Cricket President Shami Silva serves as the interim President of the ACC. Reports indicate that Naqvi is likely to take charge during the upcoming scheduled ACC General Council meeting, where the election for the permanent president will be held, along with discussions on the venue for this year’s Asia Cup.
In addition to his role as PCB Chairman, Mohsin Naqvi also holds responsibilities in the Federal Ministry of Interior and Narcotics Control. The ACC General Council meeting will also address the final decision on the Asia Cup venue, which is currently scheduled to take place in India. However, due to ongoing political tensions between India and Pakistan, there is a possibility the Asia Cup could be played at a neutral venue. The ACC is considering Sri Lanka or the United Arab Emirates as potential hosts, though the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will retain the event’s hosting rights.
This year’s Asia Cup will be played in a T20 format, with 19 matches scheduled. A total of 8 teams will participate in the event, including Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, and Hong Kong.
