Mohsin Naqvi Assures Nation on Champions Trophy, Says Expectations Will Be Exceeded
Lahore: Minister for Interior and Chairman PCB, Mohsin Naqvi, has assured the nation that Pakistan will not disappoint in the Champions Trophy matter, stating that expectations will be exceeded with positive outcomes. Speaking to the media in Lahore, Naqvi confirmed that the ICC meeting on the Champions Trophy had been postponed, and as soon as any final decisions were made, the nation would be promptly informed.
Naqvi emphasized that he would not engage in any premature statements that could negatively affect the situation. “I can’t discuss any conditions in the ICC meeting that are premature. I am focused on ensuring that any decisions made are in the best interests of both Pakistan’s cricket and international cricket,” he said.
He expressed confidence that, despite the ongoing discussions, Pakistan is playing a key role in the negotiations and will continue to do so. Naqvi also highlighted that if any harm came to the ICC, it would ultimately impact cricket globally, but he remained optimistic about improvements.
On domestic cricket development, Naqvi shared plans to improve the state of grounds across the country and build new stadiums where none currently exist. “We have already started working on buying land to build new grounds,” he said, adding that empowering domestic cricket is a priority in order to produce better players.
Naqvi also expressed hopes that Peshawar’s stadium would be completed soon, and that tournaments would be held in cities that currently do not host international cricket events.
