Ministry of Communications Reports Loss of Rs 151.5 Million in Toll Revenue Due to Motorway Closures

Islamabad:The Ministry of Communications has revealed that the country faced a loss of Rs 151.5 million in toll revenue between November 24 to 26, due to the closure of major motorways in the wake of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) protests.
In a written response to a question raised in the National Assembly, the Ministry stated that the M-2, M-3, and M-4 motorways were closed from November 24 to 26 for security reasons. The closures were deemed necessary due to the law and order situation and potential threats posed by the protests.
During the closure, the country faced a significant toll revenue loss, amounting to Rs 151.5 million. In contrast, the toll revenue from these motorways in the previous week had amounted to Rs 353.6 million.
The Ministry further explained that intelligence reports indicated that protesters were planning to disrupt public order and damage property. Protesters were reportedly armed with sticks and slingshots. To protect public property and ensure the safety of citizens, the motorways were closed at various points, and public notifications about these closures were issued accordingly.
