Medal Battles Intensify at Paris Olympics; Japan Leads with 7 Gold Medals
Islamabad:The competition for medals at the Paris Olympics is heating up, with decisions on 13 more gold medals made on the second day of the Olympics. Japan stands at the top of the points table with a total of 7 gold medals among its 12 overall medals. A total of 22 countries have secured their spots on the medal table so far.
After two days of competitions at the Paris Olympics, Japan holds the first position with 4 gold, 2 silver, and 1 bronze medal. Australia follows closely behind in the second position with 4 gold and 2 silver medals, totaling 12 medals overall.
The United States has won a total of 12 medals, with 3 gold medals placing them third. American athletes also secured 6 silver and 3 bronze medals.
France has earned 3 gold, 3 silver, and 2 bronze medals, while Korea clinched 3 gold, 2 silver, and 1 bronze medal.
China, on the medal table, has garnered 3 gold medals alongside 1 silver and 2 bronze medals. Italy secured 1 gold, 2 silver, and 3 bronze medals, Kazakhstan won 1 gold and 2 bronze medals, and Belgium clinched 1 gold and 1 bronze medal.
Germany, Hong Kong, and Uzbekistan each won 1 gold medal, while Britain secured 2 silver and 2 bronze medals. Brazil secured 1 silver and 2 bronze medals, and Canada won 1 silver and 1 bronze medal.
Fiji, Kosovo, Mongolia, Poland, and Tunisia each secured 1 silver medal. Sweden earned 2 bronze medals, while Egypt, Spain, Hungary, India, Mexico, Moldova, and South Africa each won 1 bronze medal.
In shooting events, Chinese and Korean athletes dominated, while in cross-country mountain biking, France claimed the gold medal.
Sunday witnessed fierce competition among athletes for medals at the Paris Olympics. China’s Zhi Yu clinched a gold medal in the men’s 10-meter air pistol shooting, marking China’s third gold medal in these competitions. Italy’s Federico Maldeini secured silver, and Italy’s Paolo Mona clinched a bronze medal.
India secured its first medal, a bronze, at the Paris Olympics when Manu Bhaker won in the women’s 10-meter air pistol. The gold and silver in the women’s 10-meter air pistol remained with Korean shooters.
France added another gold to its medal tally when host country’s Pauline Ferrand-Prévot secured gold in cycling mountain biking. In this competition, America’s Haley Batten won silver, and Sweden’s Jenny Rissveds secured a bronze medal.
Korea secured its third gold medal of the event when its women’s archery team defeated China. Korean women’s team claimed the Olympic gold medal for the tenth consecutive time, defeating Mexico in the bronze medal match.
Japan secured another gold medal in judo, with Hifumi Abe defeating Brazil’s Willian Lima 10-0 in the men’s 66kg final. Bronze medals in judo were won by Moldova’s Denis Vieru and Kazakhstan’s Gusman Kyrgyzbayev.
Japan clinched a third gold medal in women’s skateboarding. Japan’s Kokona Hiraki won gold in women’s street skateboarding, with silver also going to Japan, while Leticia Bufoni of Brazil secured the second position.
On the second day of medal competitions, Japan won another gold medal in fencing men’s épée individual competition. Japan’s Kanoa Kokki defeated France’s Yannick Borel 15-9.
Australia won its fourth gold medal at the Paris Olympics in canoeing competitions. Jess Fox won the gold medal in canoeing’s women’s slalom. Poland secured silver and Britain won bronze.
Uzbekistan also secured its first gold medal at the Paris Olympics on Sunday. Uzbekistan won gold in women’s judo 52 kg competitions. Judoist Diyora Keldiyorova defeated Kosovo’s Distria Krasniqi to secure the gold medal.
France secured its third gold medal by winning gold in swimming. Frenchman Mchend Léon secured gold in men’s 400 meters individual medley. Japan secured silver and America won bronze.
America won its second gold medal in women’s 100 meters butterfly. America won silver and China won bronze.
