Quetta:MDCAT students, led by Tasawar Aziz, staged a protest on Monday in front of the Quetta Press Club, demanding the reversal of the recent fee hike imposed by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) for the entry test. The demonstrators carried banners and placards with slogans criticizing the fee increase.
The protestors highlighted that the fee for the test has been raised from 6,000 to 8,000 rupees, which they argue is unjust and burdensome, particularly for students from middle-class families. They expressed concern that this increase puts the future of hardworking and deserving students at risk.
Speakers at the protest demanded a reduction in the entry test fee and urged the government to abandon what they described as “education-hostile policies.” They emphasized the need for making education more accessible to ensure that all students have the opportunity to pursue their studies and contribute to the nation’s development.
The protesters chanted slogans against the fee hike and dispersed peacefully after the demonstration.
