Maulana Fazlur Rehman Urges Unity on Ideology to Strengthen Pakistan

Islamabad:Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has emphasized the need for national unity on a single ideology to strengthen Pakistan. Speaking at the “Stability of Pakistan Conference” in Vehari, he expressed concerns about the growing divisions created by certain political elements, stating that the forces responsible for sowing hatred against state institutions are not the religious scholars but the politicians.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman reiterated his party’s commitment to uniting the people of Pakistan, and he criticized the role of certain political figures in spreading biases and division within society. He also stated that religious seminaries (madrasas) and scholars are at the forefront of defending Pakistan’s unity and sovereignty, and they will continue to protect both Pakistan and religious institutions, under the guidance of Allah.

The JUI-F leader highlighted the significant contributions of religious scholars in the formation of key institutions, such as the Council of Islamic Ideology, noting that without the efforts of religious leaders, such bodies may not have come into existence. He added that while their voice might not always be well-received in emotional or charged environments, they remain firm in their stance.

In his closing remarks, Maulana Fazlur Rehman underscored the symbolic importance of turbans worn by religious scholars, stating that these turbans are meant to be raised in honor, not bowed in submission. He concluded by reiterating that to truly love Pakistan, the nation must unite under a common ideology.
