Maulana Fazlur Rehman Rejects ‘Dummy Assembly’, Criticizes Government and International Conspiracies

Islamabad:Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), has stated that his party has no interest in sitting in what he referred to as a “dummy assembly,” claiming that such assemblies have no real significance. He further added that he could easily create such assemblies from mud.

Addressing a gathering at the Darul Uloom Islamia in Charsadda on Saturday during a graduation ceremony, Maulana Fazlur Rehman expressed concerns over the current electoral system, claiming that people vote for one candidate, but a different individual is elected. He also mentioned that he had tried to explain to the powerful forces that even Sheikh Hasina had won elections through rigging, and that Pakistan desired peace. Therefore, these forces should accept JUI-F’s demands amicably.

Fazlur Rehman emphasized that Pakistan was created in the name of Islam, but now some people were mocking Islam within the country. He accused the ruling elite and politicians of committing injustices against Islam, claiming that only religious scholars had remained loyal to Pakistan. He also stated that no one inherited Pakistan, and thus landowners, industrialists, bureaucrats, and common Pakistanis were all equal.

The JUI-F leader pointed out international conspiracies against religious schools (madrasas), saying that the global establishment sought to eradicate religious education in Pakistan. He claimed that despite these conspiracies, madrasas were growing stronger, adding that efforts to eliminate them had been ongoing since the colonial era.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman also referenced the 26th Constitutional Amendment, warning that if Parliament had approved the government’s original draft, it would have been disastrous for the country. He stated that the government’s proposed draft posed a significant threat to Pakistan’s Parliament and human rights.

Regarding the economic situation, he criticized the current government’s claims, questioning how they could claim economic improvement while the country continued to operate under a system based on usury.

On the situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he lamented that there was no government presence, and no rule of law in the province. He also accused NGOs of working to uproot the deep-rooted religious values in the region, stressing the importance of protecting madrasas, religious education, and the political system.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman questioned the economic claims of the government, pointing out that if they were truly improving the economy, they should explain where the resources were coming from. He claimed that despite Pakistan being rich in resources, mismanagement was rampant.

In conclusion, he stated that a country cannot function without a strong government, and people cannot be deceived by economic indicators. He rejected the legitimacy of the current parliament, asserting that JUI-F had no desire to sit in this “dummy assembly.” He emphasized that Pakistan’s resources belonged to the people, and no one could take them away. Regarding the current political landscape, he noted that politics had now become about the search for power and authority, rather than serving the people.
