Maulana Fazlur Rehman Comments on PTI’s Protest Call, Blasts Government’s Handling of Religious Schools Bill
Islamabad:Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the head of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), has expressed concerns about the timing of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s call for a nationwide protest on November 24. Speaking during a discussion on Geo News’ “Capital Talk,” Fazlur Rehman stated that the continuous calls for protests are diminishing their impact and significance.
He also criticized PTI for lacking a coherent strategy and suggested that the party’s leadership was unable to form an effective plan of action. Regarding the political situation, Fazl remarked on the relationship between the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the ruling coalition, noting that while PPP is not a formal part of the government, it continues to support it. This dynamic, he claimed, leads to ongoing dissatisfaction and internal friction within the government ranks.
Fazlur Rehman further commented on the delay in the signing of the controversial bill concerning religious schools (madrasas) by the President of Pakistan. He questioned why the President had not yet signed the bill and speculated that there might be external pressures at play, suggesting that the delay may be due to international concerns rather than domestic issues.
His statements reflect the ongoing political tensions and the complexities within the ruling coalition as Pakistan approaches a period of heightened political activity.
