Islamabad:Maulana Fazlur Rehman, head of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F), has stated that for the current political crisis to be resolved, the military must disengage from politics.
In a statement on the social media platform “X,” Maulana Fazlur Rehman emphasized that as long as the military does not disengage itself from politics, the country cannot emerge from the crisis. He added that the use of force against political forces is not a solution; instead, it will exacerbate political tensions. All institutions should confine themselves within the framework defined by the constitution to stabilize the country.
He further said that the powerful circles should understand sooner rather than later that it would be better for the country and themselves.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman acknowledged that the current hybrid system has failed, and the solution to all issues lies in holding transparent elections throughout the country.
It should be noted that Maulana Fazlur Rehman was previously allied with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Pakistan Peoples Party and played a significant role in attempting to topple Imran Khan’s government after the recent general elections. However, following dissatisfaction with PML-N and PPP post-elections, he has also expressed grievances with the establishment.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman has been critical of the current government since its inception, maintaining that the mandate has been stolen once again, akin to the 2018 elections, and has called for fresh elections.
Moreover, he has initiated a movement in collaboration with his staunch political adversary, Imran Khan, against blatant corruption, indicating that despite bitterness with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, discussions could pave the way forward.
