Mass Protests in Serbia Against President Aleksandar Vučić and His Government

Belgrade:In Serbia, millions of people took to the streets in what is being described as the largest protest so far against President Aleksandar Vučić and his government.

According to foreign news agencies, the protesters rallied against the president and his administration, with the demonstration causing heightened security in the capital, Belgrade. All public transport in the city was also suspended during the protest.

The government opposition protests began four months ago, following a tragic incident in November of last year when the roof of an under-construction railway station collapsed, resulting in the deaths of 15 people.

Protesters have blamed government corruption and incompetence for the incident, while the government has warned of strict action against those attempting to instigate unrest.
