Major Theft at Bank in Karachi’s Defence Area: Jewellery Worth 10 Crores Stolen from Locker

Karachi, Pakistan:A major theft incident has occurred at a bank in Karachi’s Defence area, where valuable items stored in a locker by a customer have gone missing. The customer reported that jewellery and other items worth 10 crore rupees were stolen from the locker.

According to details, the customer used the locker on February 6, 2023, and when they returned to the bank on February 19, they found the locker completely empty, with the box missing altogether. A case has been filed regarding the incident.

The affected individual explained that they had been operating the locker since July 2010 and had stored diamond sets, gold sets, branded watches, and foreign currency at different times over the years. The last time they had placed items in the locker was on February 6, but by February 19, the locker was entirely empty.

Upon discovering the missing items, the customer immediately notified the bank staff. During the subsequent search, empty jewellery pouches were found on the ceiling of the bank’s ceiling. The affected customer filed an FIR at the Darakhshan police station and has also sent letters to the FIA and the State Bank for further action.

SSP Investigation South, Ali Hassan, confirmed that all the details of the incident had been gathered from the victim, and inquiries were underway with the bank staff. He further mentioned that if needed, additional sections could be added to the FIR during the investigation.

The case has raised significant concerns about the security of valuables stored in bank lockers, and authorities are continuing to investigate the theft.
