Islamabad:Pakistan has discovered a significant reservoir of oil and gas in the Attock district, known as the Akhwas block. Pakistan Oil Fields Limited (POL) made the discovery and has notified the Pakistan Stock Exchange of the development.
According to the notification, the Akhwas block is yielding 714 barrels of crude oil daily and 10 million standard cubic feet of gas per day.
The statement mentioned that drilling at the Akhwas block commenced in October 2023 and achieved success at a depth of 17,778 meters.
The discovery of these new reserves of oil and gas marks a major achievement that will contribute significantly to the country’s economic growth and energy requirements.
It should be noted that Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) also made a significant gas discovery in April last year in the Nor-West Block Number 1 in Sujawal district, Sindh.
