Islamabad:A significant development has occurred in the PASCO wheat procurement case, as the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested Zahoor Ahmad Ranjha, the former General Manager of PASCO.
According to the FIA spokesperson in Lahore, Ranjha was apprehended for allegedly altering the wheat procurement policy set by the Managing Director (MD) of PASCO. It is claimed that Ranjha fraudulently modified the policy to favor middlemen (arhtis) over farmers. The former GM reportedly issued policy letters with forged signatures of the MD to district officers.
The FIA statement noted that Ranjha faces charges under sections related to altering the MD’s approved policy and for falsifying signatures. FIA Lahore Zone Director, Sarfraz Khan Work, stated that the investigation is ongoing and is being conducted on merit.
Sources suggest that the former MD of PASCO may also be included in the investigation.
