Mahmood Khan Achakzai Calls for Protection of Pashtun Rights and Strengthening of Pakistan’s Constitution

Quetta:Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Chairman of Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party and Head of the Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Aeen Pakistan, addressed the participants on the third day of the Quetta Olasi Qaumi Jirga. In his speech, Achakzai discussed the supremacy of the Constitution in Pakistan, the rights of the Pashtun nation, and national issues in detail.
He criticized the failure to implement a decision made by a committee formed during the previous Nawaz Sharif government, which included prominent leaders such as Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Imran Khan. The committee had agreed that Afghan children born in Pakistan should be granted citizenship, but this decision was never enforced. Achakzai questioned who prevented the implementation of this decision.
He emphasized that the existence of the Pakistani state is tied to the Constitution, and neglecting it could be dangerous for the country. If the state fails to protect Pashtun rights, he warned, the Pashtun nation would defend their homeland by any means necessary. He also highlighted the discriminatory treatment faced by Pashtuns in obtaining national identity cards, and called for equal application of laws for all nations in the country.
Achakzai declared that Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party would not tolerate NADRA’s unfair treatment and would consider approaching the United Nations and international courts if necessary. He reiterated that all nations, including Punjabis, Sindhis, Baloch, and Pashtuns, must have their rights protected for Pakistan to thrive as a truly democratic, Islamic, and constitutional state.
Additionally, he criticized the current state of law and order in Pakistan, citing the daily killing of 30 individuals and the government’s silence. He called for a truly independent and neutral election commission to ensure genuine representation of the people in the country’s democratic process.
Achakzai’s speech emphasized the need for a united Pakistan where the Constitution is respected, and all nations are treated equally to safeguard peace and justice. He assured that Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party would continue its democratic struggle to protect Pashtun rights and would not allow any conspiracy to enslave the Pashtun nation.
